All functional ware is hand thrown terra cotta or stoneware, individually decorated with lead-free glaze, food, oven, and microwave safe. We do not suggest placing the platters with the large exposed clay areas into the dishwasher or allowed to soak in water. All other functional glazed pieces are dishwasher safe.

Other Decorative Designs are created using Terra Cotta, Stoneware, Raku Clay and Earthenware Clay.

Even though many pieces appear similar, they each have their own unique character. All glazes are developed and mixed by the artist. Due to the hand dipping of each pot and batches of glaze, there may be some slight variation in hues.

Sawdust Fired Vessels

These decorative pots are fired using a primitive form of pottery making.  Our local woodworkers provide us a variety of hardwood sawdust which we use to fill a 55 gallon barrel.  Pots are placed within the sawdust along with colorants.  A fire is started at the top, after which the lid is placed on and a 30 to 40 hour firing or smoking begins.  The carbon from the smoke penetrates the clay giving each piece its own unique look.  Each pot is sealed after firing.

Sawdust vessels are each has an individual character.  It is like opening a present to open a sawdust firing to see the different quality of each vessel.  As these vessels are not glazed, they are decorative only.
