2025 Empty Bowls Fund Raiser

Great turnout at the Empty Bowls fundraising event yesterday at the Eastern Michigan Food Bank. Oak Grove Pottery and our artists are proud to have contributed over 100 bowls to the event which raises money to feed those in need in Michigan. It's expected that over $100K will be raised this year. Great to see such community support for such an important goal.

Had a great time on our visit to Mark Chatterly's studio to learn about his ceramic clay sculptures. Mark is a renowned artist selling his pieces across the country and world. We were very interested to learn about his techniques and artistic inspiration behind his art. Oak Grove Pottery thanks you for your hospitality Mark!

Our first Raku firing with new gas kiln July 13th, 2024!

We were so excited for our first firing with our new Raku gas kiln. Everything went well and our pieces came out beautiful. Luckily we had some experienced potters join us and help run everything smoothly. On our 2nd firing we heard a loud pop from the kiln and discovered that the clamps holding the metal skirting failed which allowed the fire brick to expand and crack. We contacted Olympic Kilns and they are sending us a replacement kiln under warranty. We will be having Raku firings on a regular basis going forward and are looking forward to the next one!
